Custom LASIK

LASIK gives a person a new lease on life: Freedom without glasses or contacts. LASIK treatment takes only a few minutes and is virtually painless

With glasses or contact lenses, many people feel restricted in their daily lives: There are professions in which glasses or contact lenses are not permitted, for safety reasons, for example, whereas they are simply inconvenient in many types of sport such as swimming. Many contact lens wearers suffer from dry eyes due to air conditioning systems; those wearing glasses get headaches because their glasses don't fit properly. And lost contact lenses and broken glasses are also just annoying.

LASIK provides relief. LASIK is the most popular and safest method for correcting poor eyesight, such as short- and long-sightedness, and several million people worldwide have already had a LASIK procedure.

Benefit and trust in our many years of experience. Working with the latest in technology we can ensure custom LASIK for maximum safety. The LZW offers competent specialists and outstanding support.

The LASIK method: perfection for the eye:
Comprehensive examinations are carried out after a detailed informed consent discussion. With the help of a computerised diagnostic system we collect and store all the data, such as texture, curvature and thickness of the cornea. The computer then calculates the best LASIK treatment plan for the upcoming correction.

The procedure itself takes only a few minutes and is virtually painless for the patient. The laser not only corrects the corneal surface, but also deeper layers of the cornea. After surgery, patients must regularly take antibacterial eye drops for two weeks. There is a first follow-up examination immediately after surgery; other follow-up examinations follow over the next few months.

What does LASIK mean?
LASIK (acronym for laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) has become the world's most successfully performed technology of refractive surgery in the treatment vision defects. More than 5 million people worldwide already had a LASIK procedure, with 100.000 annually in Germany alone.

By the way: LASIK has been recognized by the German Ophthalmological Society and the German Association of Ophthalmologists (BVA) as a scientific procedure with a very low complication rate.

How does LASIK work?
First, a thin flap (0.12mm) is created in the cornea under computer guidance, to provide access to the cornea. The corneal layer is then treated with the laser. After surgery, the corneal flap is folded back again, it adheres by itself and protects the wound like a natural dressing.

The deeper underlying corneal layer is modelled with the laser.

The benefits of LASIK

  • The procedure takes only a few minutes and is painless under local anaesthetic eye drops.
  • LASIK is usually performed as an outpatient procedure, which means you can go home right after the surgery.
  • You will already have good vision after a few hours and can usually resume normal activity on the next day.
  • Because the natural structure of the superficial layers of the cornea is preserved, the healing process is straightforward and trouble-free.
  • Seit ihrer Einführung Anfang der 90er Jahre wurde die LASIK kontinuierlich
